Operating as a supplier for the field of cable grouping especially in the sectors of white goods, heating-cooling, and digital and commercial fridges, REKA A.Ş. has succeeded in becoming a preferred company in white goods subsidiary industry in 3 years since it was established.

Stating “We aim at increasing our current turnover 30 % and the number of our employees 10 % in 2018. Besides, 2018 will be the year of investment for our company. We aim at putting the plastic injection line, which is planned to consist of the machinery park between 80-400 tons, and the full automatic plug-in cable production line into use in our second production plant accordant with Industry 4.0”, Reka A.Ş. General Manager İrem Günercan has answered our questions.

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you introduce your company briefly?

İrem Günercan: REKA A.Ş. was founded in 2000 meter squares of closed area in Manisa Muradiye Industrial Zone with 3 employees in 2014 to operate as a supplier for the field of cable grouping especially in the sectors of white goods, heating-cooling, and digital and commercial fridges. As the company moved to its own plants including 4.000 meter squares of indoor area and 5.000 meter squares of outdoor area in the 3rd Section of Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, the number of the employees increased to 35. Increasing its growth acceleration by moving to its own new modern plants, REKA A.Ş. succeeded in increasing the number of employees to 168 including 9 white collars, and the turnover of the first year 1500 % at the end of August 2017. We aim that the number of the employees will become 180 by the end of the year. In addition, 90 % of the employees employed by REKA A.Ş. are women, including from the storehouse supervisor to the forklift operator. The company implements positive discrimination for women in employment.

Having grown rapidly three years after the establishment, REKA A.Ş. has succeeded in becoming a preferred company in the white goods subsidiary industry. Considering that the most significant factor of this success and preference is making flexible production on time with minimum failure and low-cost, REKA A.Ş. has succeeded in reaching this level by implementing this philosophy with the right and quality staff. Having the flexibility to take the necessary actions on time in the changing demands and plans of the customers, REKA A.Ş. has adopted working with minimum stock cost without stopping the production lines of the customers as a principle. As a result of this principle, the required cost reduction comes to existence automatically.

REKA A.Ş. plans investing in plastic injection and plug-in cable production lines during the 3rd quarter of 2018 in accordance with the targets of the company. Planning to make these investments made of the lines especially accordant to Industry 4.0, the establishment aims at increasing the product range offered to the customers. With the increasing new components, the company plans to increase the ratio of the components in the final product manufactured by the customer; thus, leave the identity of standard subsidiary industry, and change into a strategic partner which can make shared decisions with the customers.

2017 was very good for our sector. Especially following the traitor coup attempt in 2016, the negativity was removed at the beginning of the year thanks to the additional measures taken for the white goods sector and the general manufacturing establishments by our government; and the production of 2017 increased to a higher level. The taken measures such as the additional tax discount in the white goods sector showed their effects quickly, and the production amount in primarily the key industry of the sector, followed by the subsidiary industry, increased compared to the previous year. In this process, it has been observed that the export figures increased in parallel with the domestic market this year, which affected the subsidiary industries positively.

Key industries must support the new and innovative companies such as our company. Key industries used to support subsidiary industries more. However, we think that they need to support the new established SME’s such as our company. Because of the difficulty of competing in the global environment, the companies proving themselves by making correct works should be supported more. In this regard, we aim at establishing our second factory in accordance with Industry 4.0. In addition, we try to make our current establishment accordant to Industry 4.0 gradually. We have started working in this direction. REKA A.Ş. intends to become a company that develops itself consistently and is preferred primarily in the sector. 

SUBCONTURKEY: You will participate in HEFI 2018. What is the aim of your participation? What do you expect from the exhibition?

İrem Günercan: We will participate in the exhibition to introduce the product groups manufactured in our company, meet new customers and become solution partners for them, and meet our current customers.
